It certainly is going to be a pain to list all who have been good to us in our fews years of tooling around the hardcore "scene" but I felt that Saetia is a result not only of it's 5 members, but also of the countless people who have been good to us and have made things worthwhile. This list is far from complete and seeing as it was last updated in mid '99 it's probably not even very accurate. Sorry.
former and founding members Adam and Alex. You put everything in motion and you are missed. Alex, you were taken from us too soon. Adam now plays in Error Type 11 which has put out a full length on Some Records. We should be upset that he dissed us for them, but seeing as they rock, we really can't hold it against him. Check them out.
Will Cole for sending us photos, giving us space on his page to store the "open letter" and "sweetness and the light" MP3's and just all around being a nutty guy.
The Mountain Cooperative
You & I - breaking up is something that always happens to the wrong bands.
God Awful - ditto.
Race Bannon
Adam Schwartz
Phil Henken
Pat Kenneally
Usurp Synapse
The Lazarus Plot
Bands/Labels/People we dig
Alex Chabot digs Emporer and has a really slick site. Nuff said.
Grade
- Great flowing music with
the sickest vocals that you've ever heard. I stole a lot of their code when building this page. Don't tell anyone. Why the fuck they signed to Victory is beyond me.
Inanition -St. Louis based SXE HC that will seriously fuck you up.
The Infertil -It's all about the Ice cammo and malt liquor.
Emperor -Oh shit.
Propagandhi -so what if
they sound like NoFX. Propagandhi still has more to say than most
"hardcore" punk bands. Probably the only pop-punk outfit worth listening to.
Rocket From the Crypt could easily be the best band in existance right now.
The 90 Day Men -this isn't really a page as much as it's a collection of pictures that I took of them when they went on tour last summer.
Lustre King -ditto for this.
Christie Front Drive - Amazing Colorado band which played soothing, melodic music. Most bands attempt this sort of thing and trip all over themselves, but Christie Front Drive was able to pull it off and put out a bunch of amazing records.
Fuse 12 -St. Louis hardcore
Thumbnail! kicks your ass with their music and steals your girlfriend with their sassiness. You've been warned.
Coalesce - Simply brutal HC, and I don't say that lightly. I can't describe them in any other way. Not metal, not sludge, just insane. Download the sound files and let your ears bleed.
The Last Crime -NYC band that came out of nowhere and made me shit my pants when I saw them about 2-3 years ago. Ex-1.6 Band guys and each epic song averages 5-7 minutes and does not get boring. Click on the picture on the main page to see what these guys are all about.
Another Last Crime page that has more info than the previous one.
Big Black
- Scrawny punk antagonism. The
Rapeman
and
Shellac
pages are here too. Lots of Albini.
Karp -makes you move your ass. I can't believe that these guys aren't more popular than they are. Another page that is a bit short on info, but what the hell, it's Karp!
Born Against
-this band set standards. That is all that needs be said. They had it all: great name, UGLY music, scathing sarcasm and a master plan for world domination. Word.
Another Born Against Page
Yet another Born Against Page
Black Flag
-if I have to tell you why Black flag is important, your soul is not worth saving. (yeah, I'm elitist. Eat shit.) This site even has guitar tabs so that all you little punkers out there can learn "Damaged" and shimmy your silly, little ass off.
The Traitors -In their own words, "Traitors is a drunk-ass, fucked up punk band formed in Chicago in 1995 from the ashes of a few other bands whose names are irrelevant at this point." I think that pretty much sums it up.
Labels
Witching Hour Records - has yet to put out something that I don't like. They put out stuff by Makara, Race Bannon, Shaharazad, Song of Zarathustra and a bunch of others. This site is under construction right now though.
Actionboy Records - put out great records by Dianogah, The 90 Day Men, Lustre King and a whole bunch of other Chicago based bands. Unfortunately the label is pretty dormant right now, so hopefully things start back up again soon.
Three-One-G - a San Diego label which boasts the Swing Kids, Locust and Jenny Piccolo among others.
Pejoration isn't actually a label, but there is all sorts of info and mini-pages on bands such as Mohinder, Angel Hair, Clikitat Ikatowi, Spanakorzo, the VSS, Antioch Arrow, Heroin, The Crimson Curse, The Shortwave Channel and Second Story Window. Enough San Diego for anyone.
Wrenched Records - yet more San Diego stuff just in case you haven't gotten enough yet. Spanakorzo, The Shortwave Channel, etc.
Council Records -I was so glad to hear that this label is still alive and kicking. They put out some of my favorite records a few years ago by Current, Chino Horde Constantine Sankathi and a bunch of others from around the Michigan area and the midwest.
File 13 Records started out in Arkansas a while back and put out all sorts of good shit by Chino Horde, Benchmark, 12 ft. 6, William Martyr 17 and all that good stuff. Well, they moved to Pennslyvania and now put out stuff by Antartica and Franklin and bands from that area.
The BuddySystem puts out cool records by the Hal al Shedad, Action Patrol and Carbomb. This site is quite slick.
Troubleman Unlimited is the genius behind the legendary Karp/Rye Coalition split 12" and have also put out a Shotmaker album. They can do no wrong.
Caulfield Records -home of Trauluma, Christie Front Drive and all of those other softer, melodic bands from the midwest.
Spectra Sonic Sound is Shawn Scallen's label. Not only do they put out stuff by various Shotmaker offshoots (30 Second Motion Picture and 3 Penny Opera) as well as Okara and Franklin stuff, but Shawn takes all sorts of cool pictures which can be seen here.
Crass Records -put out records by the band Crass, Conflict,
Flux of Pink Indians and Rudimentary Peni, among others.
Lovitt Records put out stuff by The Sleepytime Trio and a bunch of other good shit and are the new home of 400 Years.
Halfmast Records
-has put out records by Man Afraid, a great band from the Twin Cities.
